The ‘new’ MINI celebrates two decades in Australia

On Saturday 2 March, 2002, the new generation of MINI was released in Australia as the R50 series.
Twenty years have now passed since the first cars drove out of showrooms, and the generation is increasingly being acknowledged as a future classic.
Launched more than 40 years apart, the 850 and R50 are very different cars, however they share the title of being the first models in Australia of their respectively generations.
